Abstract

The aim of the research is to identify the role of scientific research in addressing climate risks, by monitoring the scientific research bodies in the community that work on climate changes and identifying the nature of their role in this regard, as well as identifying the Center of Excellence for Research on Climate Change, as one of the specialized research centers and identifying the Its role in addressing climate change, and in the framework of this, the researcher conducted a case study of the Research Center of Excellence by preparing a guide for the case study dealing with its location, its administrative and functional structure, its participating parties at the local, regional and international levels and the role of each of them, its objectives, its institutional frameworks, its programs in Dealing with climate change, its sources of funding, the center’s activities, projects and studies in which it participated, the official pages of the center within the digital community, its relationship with the Ministry of Environment, its relationship with decision-makers, its relationship with sustainable development, the goals that have been achieved, the obstacles it faces and how overcome. The center deals with the file of climate changes using the methods of adaptation or mitigation and following the necessary measures to achieve both of them at the appropriate time and conditions. The study also found the importance of the Research Center of Excellence and its great role in addressing climate change, and this was evident through the strategic objective and its interim objectives, where the center aimed primarily to support the Egyptian state by setting appropriate preventive measures to confront climate risks in a manner consistent with And sustainable development goals, and sources of funding, which included current and expected sources of funding through regional and international cooperation, academically and financially. As the Center for Climate Change in China and the Institute of Bioproduct Development in Malaysia, a group of The administration does not have a higher steering committee, including the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Egyptian Space Agency. As for the relationship with the Ministry of Environment, there are many interrelated issues that the Center of Excellence and the Ministry of Environment cooperate in studying, which are issues related to members of society and their interactions with the environment, the impact of those interactions and how to deal with them. And about some of the goals that have been achieved from the center.
